As the owner and designer of Matthan Gori, I have very little time to devote to me and my family. Since my family is spread around the world, with one sister in Canada, mother in Israel, and rest of my siblings and family in Turkey; connecting with my family is not always easy. However, every year I make sure I go to Istanbul for my 8 year old niece’s birthday and I try to show her how important she is to me by making her birthday cakes of her favourite cartoon characters. Showing my love to her has meant that I had to learn how to make cakes with fondant and now thanks to her I’m pretty professional cake designer.
